While I'm not a washing machine expert and I haven't done laundry in many machines, I can speak from my own personal experience. I've been using this non-toxic method for many years and it's been fine. I haven't had any problems. Yes, the mixture creates a fizzing action, but after a couple minutes, it settles to the bottom and is fine and does its job in the water with no problem. I hope that helps.
